A young boy who had noticed the posture of his father while praying sneaked into his father’s prayer room one day and tried to listen to his father, praying. When his father saw him, he asked why the boy did that. The boy responded that he wanted to learn how to pray like his father.
The boy’s action is not different from the attitude of Jesus’ disciples. Having noticed their Master’s prayer lifestyle, the disciples approached Him to teach them how to pray. Jesus then gave them a pattern of prayer termed “The Lord’s Prayer”.
A deep reflection on Jesus’ pattern of prayer shows it is about understanding the importance and concept of prayer. Prayer is a means of communicating with God, making requests and receiving instructions. Jesus’ prayer is full of actions required of believers. The Lord’s Prayer teaches us how to live to please our heavenly Father. As we learn to pray, we also learn to honour God by depending on Him for our daily supply, and we imbibe the spirit of forgiveness. All of these are not just verbal pronouncements; they are actions to be taken. Let your prayer be seen in your action from today.
Insight: If you love someone, you tend to be like him. Be like Jesus in all things.
Prayer: Grace to grow more like You, Lord Jesus, I receive in Jesus Christ Name. Amen.

Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize” (1 Corinthians 9:24-27 NIV).

A Psalm and Song at the dedication of the house of David. I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me. O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me. O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness. For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved. LORD, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled. I cried to thee, O LORD; and unto the LORD I made supplication. What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth? Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou my helper. Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.
Many do not know when to stop praying over issues because they are not sensitive to recognize signs indicating that the prayer is heard. Jesus says we should watch and pray. Some of us are still busy fasting and praying over matters God has since answered, rather than preparing for the manifestation. – Pastor EA Adeboye
BIBLE VERSE FOR THE DAY “When this had dawned on him, he went to the house of Mary the mother of John, also called Mark, where many people had gathered and were praying. Peter knocked at the outer entrance, and a servant girl named Rhoda came to answer the door. Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. (Jude 1:3|KJV)

God accepts every person that will come to Him and He wants us to reach people for Him, putting aside our personal biases. So, if you have been purified and have the Holy Spirit in you, you can reach out to others for Christ today.
Jesus Christ as our perfect example, did not consider equality with God, but, humbled Himself in human likeness and became obedient to death. Whatever takes the place of God in your life is a false altar. Do you pretend to be worshiping God and yet you find it comfortable to tell lies, get involved in fornication and adultery? Do you have sinful friends you still relate with, comfortably? Is there anything that still pushes you to sin? These are false altars.
And when the men of the city arose early in the morning, behold, the altar of Baal was cast down, and the grove was cut down that was by it, and the second bullock was offered upon the altar that was built. (Judges 6:28|KJV)
It is always difficult to handle them with human strength. Seek the assistance of a matured child of God or pastor; let him or her help you. You will find strength in Jesus’ name to pull down those altars.
God is always ready to forgive our sins whenever we are ready to confess them to Him. No sin is too big to be forgiven if we confess it, and no sin is too small to be overlooked if we do not repent. A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
The LORD is on His heavenly throne, observing people and examining everyone. Nothing is hidden from Him and He knows all things. It is foolishness for a man to think that God does not know what he/she is doing. Even the intents of men, He knows.
The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD’S throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men. (Psalms 11:4|KJV)
The truth is that the eyes of God penetrate into the hearts of people such that He knows the content of every heart. Knowing God is looking at you now, can you pray like the psalmist? “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: and see if there be any wicked way in me

The heart of a man must be circumcised by the Word of God before he can do what is right in the presence of God. Those who are acceptable to God do not live a deceitful lifestyle. They are straightforward in their dealings with other people. They are trustworthy and reliable. It is not enough to claim to be a member of a church or be active in church activities; what the Lord expects from us is to live right.
Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? (Psalm 24:3, NKJV)
Reflect on your life; can it get God’s approval? Are you a blessing to your generation or a curse? You can be set apart to receive God’s blessing if you put your hands and heart in order.
The faithfulness of God describes His stability, reliability and ability to remain unchanged. Nothing can make God change who He is. He remains the same forever.
I issue a decree that in every part of my kingdom people must fear and reverence the God of Daniel. “For he is the living God and he endures forever; his kingdom will not be destroyed, his dominion will never end. (Daniel 6:26,NIV).
You can also experience God’s faithfulness if you will take Him at His word and remain steadfast.
What are the “ashes” you need to remove in your life? Remove them now if you want to forge ahead in your endeavours and keep the fire of progress burning. – Bayo Afolaranmi
Then the priest, wearing his linen robe and linen shorts, shall remove the greasy ashes left on the altar and put them at the side of the altar. Then he shall change his clothes and take the ashes outside the camp to a ritually clean place. The fire on the altar must be kept burning and never allowed to go out. Every morning the priest shall put firewood on it, arrange the burnt offering on it, and burn the fat of the fellowship offering. The fire must always be kept burning on the altar and never allowed to go out” (Leviticus 6:10-13 TEV).
Ask the Lord to help you to identify the ashes and give you the grace to remove them
